Law Firm Office Privacy with Switchable Film

A global law firm has enhanced their office space with a cutting-edge solution: the installation of switchable film by Intelligent Glass on their glass partition, separating an office area from the central lobby containing the passenger lift. The project involved applying Intelligent Glass’s self-adhesive switchable film to an existing glass partition. This advanced film technology, often referred to as “smart film,” contains a layer of liquid crystals sandwiched between transparent protective layers. When an electric current is applied, these liquid crystals align, allowing light to pass through and rendering the glass clear. When the power is switched off, the crystals scatter, making the glass opaque and providing instant privacy.

• Thorough Preparation: The existing glass partition was rigorously cleaned to ensure a dust-free and impeccably smooth surface for optimal film adhesion.
• Precise Application: The self-adhesive switchable film was carefully applied to the glass panels. Ladders were used to reach the upper sections of the partition, meticulously peeling back a protective layer as the film was positioned. Great care was taken to smooth the film across the glass, ensuring the elimination of any air bubbles for a flawless finish. Intelligent Glass’s dry-apply method makes this process efficient and clean.
• Seamless Integration: Electrical connections, crucial for activating the film’s privacy function, were discreetly wired. This involved lifting sections of the raised access floor to run cables and connect the film’s bottom edge (the bus-bar) to its power source and control mechanism. The installation team worked carefully to manage the wiring beneath the floor tiles, ensuring all connections were secure and hidden. During this phase, the film’s functionality was tested, transitioning from opaque to transparent, confirming the successful integration of the electrical system.
• Professional Finish: The edges of the film were expertly sealed with trim to protect the internal electrical components and provide a clean, polished look that complements the contemporary office design.
