Smart Buildings, smart glass, and a smart new website
Intelligent Glass has had a busy October! Our smart new website went live on 2 October; then we made a trip to NEC Birmingham to set out our stall at Smart Buildings 2015; and there we showcased our newly expanded range of switchable smart glass products.
A new website for Intelligent Glass
Firstly, welcome! And we hope you like what we've done.
Our aim with the new website is twofold: firstly to make everything much more readable, especially on mobiles and tablets; and secondly, to bring our smart glass products to life with better images and more videos.
We've also started to add real-life examples of the applications for both switchable glass and retrofit switchable film, plus the kinds of market sectors in which our products are already being used.
We'll keep adding new content regularly, so do either bookmark us to visit again, or sign up for our email newsletter at the bottom of this page.
Smart Buildings 2015
It was great to meet many of you at Smart Buildings 2015. Many of you were familiar with switchable smart glass technology, and some had marked its progress over the last decade.
It was reassuring to hear that you recognised how much switchable glass had improved in some very important areas: clarity; switching speed; quality of finish; product range; and affordability too.
Here are the key products we had on show:
Retrofit self-adhesive switchable smart film
Our self-adhesive switchable smart film always appeals to everyone, being easily retrofitted to existing glass windows, doors and partitions.
The common theme from visitors at the show was a desire to get rid of physical blinds and curtains for a sleek, modern, and low maintenance finish, or to fit non-rectangular windows where blinds just won't work.
Switchable door vision panel
Also attracting attention from architects, door manufacturers was our new battery operated switchable door vision panel.
Switchable vision panels are designed for any door where privacy is important, but when occasional visibility through the closed door is important too. Applications include corporate meeting rooms, hotel suites, even a front door at home.
All of the electronics and power supply are all neatly concealed within the door itself, removing the need for costly and disruptive power cabling work.
Switchable smart glass partition wall
Forming a significant part of our stand at Smart Buildings was a glass partition wall comprising both single glazed toughened smart glass and laminated smart glass.
The occasional surprised look from show visitors as the 3m x 2.5m smart glass wall switched clear always turned into a smile as the penny dropped!
Most commonly used as a meeting room privacy solution in corporate offices and hotels, glass partitions are increasingly being seen in the home as room dividers, or even as a shower cubicle (laminated for wet areas!).
Switchable smart glass double & triple glazing
Finally, our smart glass double glazed unit showed how switchable technology can play a part in modern, energy conscious buildings.
In addition to the UV, thermal and sound insulation properties inherent in our switchable smart glass, we include low E/low iron glazing, warm edge spacers, argon filling, and a triple glazed option too. These factors take our insulated units beyond today's expectations for comfort, reliability and energy efficiency.
And all of our switchable glass products can be integrated into automation systems as easily as a light switch.
Platinum Vision Mirror TV
Sharing a corner of our stand was our sister company, Pro Display, with its Platinum Vision Mirror TV.
The custom-made mirror overlay hides a 4K Samsung TV, with the highly reflective mirror finish blending harmoniously with any interior.
With the TV switched off, the effect is a bespoke mirror integrated seamlessly with the storage cabinet. Switch on, and the TV image displays clearly through the mirror glass.
Platinum Vision Mirror TV overlays are precision cut to integrate perfectly with furniture, walls, bathrooms, receptions and more. The mirror is back-coated with cutouts to match the screen and IR sensor of your TV precisely, and two stunning mirror finishes are available, Silver and Smoke.
